I think for now I will stick with my MAC OSX and Windows 7 :) Looking forward next year to see the hardware with Chrome OS built-in to it.

I am not able to make the sound work so far.Well it is on its infancy so I expect things are becoming smoother on the next build? Will I start to convert my netbook to it? Not sure about it. I am able to browse the Internet, go to my favs site: facebook, youtube, google doc, etc.
#Chrome os review pro
I installed mine on my MacBook Pro VMWare and the performance is still pretty sluggish even though I throw 512MB to the configuration (not sure why). All things that supposed to work within the browser windows are working fine (javascript, AJAX, Flash all works). There are some cool touch around having a layer window open to play the video or document. If you' ve been using Chrome browser, not much a surprise. The user experience is pretty straight forward.
#Chrome os review upgrade
The Chrome OS pretty much cuts and removes all the excess 'fat' of the OS and force you to do your work via browser. Chrome Enterprise Upgrade unlocks the built-in business capabilities of Chrome OS and Chrome devices to help IT secure, orchestrate, and empower the cloud workforce. The concept is cool and if you like me, you can probably do 50% of your work via your browser. The whole notion of Chrome OS is having your world running in one place and one place only, the Chrome browser. Personally I feel local storage is a necessity and isn't going anywhere I have found most apps/extensions to help expand the productiveness of the machine and from browsing the web store it seems as if one can find all they need to make operation in the cloud painless. Google still hides it for the most part and wants you to live in the cloud. The addition of the file manager was much needed but it needs to be integrated into the system better than what it is. I think Chrome still has a ways to go but for plain old browsing and operating in the cloud it gets the job done. As a result, they are generally a lot cheaper than Windows-powered.
#Chrome os review 480p
I've also noticed that playback of video higher than 480p and live streams is very sketchy but once again, that may be due to the hardware. Chrome OS is designed specifically for those who only need a laptop to browse websites, play video and run Google-approved apps. I experience lag on a daily basis but I have no idea if that's a flaw of the OS or hardware.

We're used to seeing Chromebooks run for 2 or 3 hours longer, such as Acer's Chromebook 714 that has similar specs and ran for 15 hours, 21 minutes on the same streaming test.I'm an original pilot recipient of the Cr-48 and continue to experience the OS on this piece of hardware so I have no idea what the OS is like on OEM hardware but it still runs pretty smooth for me. That's certainly good, but in general use you're looking at more like 6 hours of straight use depending on your display brightness and what you're doing. I got 10 hours, 43 minutes of life on our streaming video test. There's no option for LTE, though, and that's kind of a bummer considering Chrome is at its best with a web connection.īut really the biggest issue you might have with the Chromebook Flip C436, aside from the price, is the battery life. Video quality from it is decent as long as you have plenty of light and a strong connection - the C436 does have Wi-Fi 6 giving you a bit of futureproofing. Joshua Goldman/CNETĪlso, if you're one of the many that suddenly need to use your webcam to get through the workday, the C436 has a decent one at the top of the display. Chromebooks run Chrome OS, Google's operating system, so they heavily feature Google's suite of applications (Chrome, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc) and need a working Internet connection to get. Call of Duty Mobile crashed on launch, but Modern Combat 5 and other Gameloft titles ran well on the C436.
